About Us

How We Got Started

Division One Trucking & Freight started in 2018 at my mother’s dining room table in Milwaukee WI with a conversation between my nephew Carl, one of his friends, and myself. We were discussing goals for the future.  Myself, already being an entrepreneur and seeing a few of my businesses come to fruition, challenged my nephew to save some money to buy a truck... A few months later my nephew flew to Arizona where we bought our first of many 26 foot Isuzu box trucks.

Truck driving and Logistics did not make sense right away.  We obtained our DOT and Authority shortly after and hired our first couple drivers.   Hiring drivers with no experience became our first big mistake.  It was “the blind leading the blind”.  It was not until fall 2018 when Carl took our truck on the road with him as the lead driver and myself, Denita as dispatch.  It was then, where we got the necessary experience that prepared us.  We were able to see everything on the open road through the eyes of Carl, making our own mistakes and learning through trial and error.

We tried Interstate trucking using load boards traveling state to state for an entire year.  We specialized in LTL freight.  After nearly a year of interstate trucking we bought our second 26 foot box truck.  It was at that point our business model began to develop and change.

We found an awesome opportunity and partnered with a Logistics company in Phoenix AZ and began to do local in state truck driving.  From that point Division One began to grow and prosper.  Our partnership with this Logistics company is held with very high regard.  As our fleet size began to grow,  Carl and I both knew that we could no longer rely solely on this partnership to continue growth.  Our company's growth was not going to sustain with one outlet.  From this point forward we at Division One Trucking & Freight have been creating our own lane.
